Video Activities for Elementary Students

This section of the website will introduce different ways in which video can be introduced into the classroom, both within the standards but also with other educational benefits. Technology has become more prominent in the modern classroom. Often educators are asked to create more lesson plans using ipads, laptops, projections, etc. to promote the use of technology within a classroom setting. Video activities are a great option for educators to incorporate technology into the classroom in a fun and engaging way. It allows students to create work and do so with a hands on approach. It gives them the satisfaction of creating a project on their own, while still learning important skills in the process.

Book Trailers

Have you ever seen a movie trailer? Movie trailers are designed to give you an idea of what happens in a movie. They entice the viewer without giving away major details, or most importantly the ending. Now imagine if we could create a similar effect for books. Well now you can! This book trailer activity is meant to do the same thing;  excite someone to read by giving a taste of the book. Try this activity to help spark students interest in stories through visual learning!

Digital Storytelling

Digital Stories are designed to help students develop stories using video footage, music, illustrations/photographs, and most importantly a voice to tell stories. It encourages young people to share their stories in a more engaging and interactive way. This activity students will develop a story inspired by an object. After they write the story, it will be used to create a digital story using drawn or found images.
